David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan Cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane in 'Superman: Legacy': A New Era Begins

After much anticipation, DC Studios has finally revealed the actors who will portray Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the upcoming film "Superman: Legacy." David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been chosen to take on these iconic roles.

The latest screen iteration of the iconic comic book hero will largely be an original workplace story, according to James Gunn, who along with fellow DC executive Peter Safran, developed the narrative plan in January 2023.

David Corenswet, who rose to fame in the Netflix series "Hollywood" as Ryan Murphy, will portray the junior reporter Clark Kent at the fictional newspaper, The Daily Planet.

Rachel Brosnahan will play his colleague and deputy editor-in-chief.

James Gunn will direct the project from his own screenplay, based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Meanwhile, Peter Safran ("Aquaman," upcoming "Aquaman 2," and The Conjuring franchise) will produce the film. The project is set to be released on July 11, 2025.

"It's about Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing," Peter Safran said earlier this year when he and James Gunn unveiled their extensive slate of planned DC films and series.

"He's the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He's the goodness in a world that often finds goodness to be outdated."

This is a major breakout moment for David Corenswet, whose idol-like looks and Midwestern charm helped him land the role in "Hollywood," where he portrayed an aspiring actor working as a male prostitute in the 1940s.

He gained widespread acclaim for his outstanding performance in Netflix's "The Politician," as well as the renowned indie horror film "Pearl" from A24.

He also wrote, directed, and starred in the web sketch comedy series "Moe & Jerryweather." David Corenswet will next be seen alongside Natalie Portman in Apple's "The Lady In The Lake."

He is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.

Rachel Brosnahan, on the other hand, has an established profile and a mantle full of accolades for her work in the long-running Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel."

She broke out on Netflix's "House of Cards." Rachel Brosnahan also recently starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Lionsgate's "The Courier," and with Christoph Waltz and Willem Dafoe in director Walter Hill's western film "Dead For a Dollar" in 2022.

Rachel Brosnahan is represented by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
